In the August 21, 1972 issue of Sports Illustrated, Olympic Gymnast Cathy Rigby was featured in a full nude photo, the original of which can be seen here: gymnastpix.blogspot.com/2012/0….
She was the first woman to ever pose nude in Sports Illustrated and, to my knowledge, is still the only woman to have posed fully nude in the magazne.
This piece is inspired by that photograph.
